This year, we are doing something we have never done before – launching our ultimate ‘retro’ radio station – WVYL!
WVYL: Vinyl Radio is your chance to be part of the radio station of your dreams—built entirely by humans, not algorithms. For one incredible week leading up to Vinylthon 2026, we’re creating a pop-up station that blends legendary voices, iconic music, and the very best of radio into a one‑of‑a‑kind listening experience.
This is human radio in its purest form: real people choosing real records for real reasons. Every hour is hand‑crafted, heart‑led, and full of personality, no playlists will be generated by code, just humans at the controls sharing the music they love and the stories behind it.
We’re looking for a limited number of standout shows to join this dream lineup. As a host, you’ll host an hour of your station’s personality, sound, and culture right alongside famous music artists acting as guest DJs and legendary radio personalities from the past. WVYL is a unique collaboration: classic radio energy, crate‑digger passion, and the creativity of today’s college, community, and commercial broadcasters all on the same stream. There’s never been anything like it.
WVYL exists to support Vinylthon and the College Radio Foundation’s “Fueling Radio’s Future” campaign, raising funds for students who want to work in the radio industry. As listeners tune in, they’ll have chances throughout the week to win special Vinylthon Prize Packs, turning every hour into both a celebration and an opportunity to give back.
