Brave New Radio (WPSC-FM), the student-run radio station at William Paterson University, produced a first-time simulcast with Montclair State University’s WMSC for College Radio Day 2025.
Both stations organized questions, games, and conversation topics to prepare for the simulcast, such as Family Feud, New Jersey trends, and discussions of what College Radio Day means to each host. On-air hosts from both schools visited each other’s studios, making for a genuinely collaborative experience during the simulcast.
The not-for-profit College Radio Foundation’s College Radio Day raises awareness of the many college and high school radio stations that operate around the world by encouraging people who would not usually listen to college radio to do so on this day and to celebrate the vital contribution of college radio by uniting for this one day.
“As this was my 2nd year hosting a program for College Radio Day, I was incredibly grateful to be part of something so historic for our station. Meeting with the other on-air talents from WMSC was a very reassuring and kind experience, and it was great getting to know people from other schools who have the same passions and drive for radio,” explained Alexa Topolski, Co-Promotions Director at Brave New Radio.
“Brave New Radio’s Program Director, Daniel Karp, and I travelled to WMSC in Montclair to represent Brave New Radio during the Special Program, and they were very welcoming and excited to share the studio with us. The program succeeded our expectations, and it felt very special to do such a collaboration for the first time in both stations’ histories,” says Vitoria Rogerio, Co-Promotions Director at Brave New Radio.

“When College Radio Day was first introduced to me, my vision was to create a sense of community, where all college radio stations would share content live, in real-time. Our simulcast with WMSC is a testament to this community vision coming to life, and we are grateful for their partnership,” adds General Station Manager Rob Taylor of Brave New Radio.
In previous years, both WMSC and Brave New Radio would create independent content. This year’s College Radio Day was a historic event for both stations, proving their companionship and dedication to doing what they love. 88.7 Brave New Radio is the founding station for College Radio Day.
