crfundlogoThe College Radio Fund will soon be offering academic based student scholarships for currently enrolled full-time college/university students. We will consider any college students from all over the US. The scholarship is to help cover tuition expenses at the academic institution that the student recipient is enrolled.

This program provides deserving students with financial resources to help them pursue continuing education and developing their broadcasting skills. Whilst many will look into student loans (with figures drawn from https://www.sofi.com/student-loan-calculator/ and similar services), having access to additional resources is no bad thing. The application process will be open to all college students who are aspiring to further their broadcasting skills. Recipients will be chosen based upon their submitted application and their personal essay explaining how the scholarship would benefit them.

Students who apply for a College Radio Fund Scholarship are expected to have grades that meet our standards, (GPA 3.0 and above) as well as to demonstrate already very active involvement with their campus radio station.

Criteria for College Radio Fund Scholarship award:

  • Students must want to develop their broadcasting skills and already be engaged with their campus radio station;
  • Students must have, at the time of application, evidence of a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above;
  • Students must complete and submit the organizations’ application form;
  • Students must write an essay on why they want to apply for the scholarship.

Students from abroad will be considered for this sponsorship if they have a J1 Visa to allow them educational exchange rights in the U.S. Each scholarship is a one year in duration. Thus there will be no renewal and we will not impose any requirements on the recipients, other than stay in good academic standing and in a full time status at their school, and for the student to submit a brief statement upon the completion of the scholarship/year as to how the scholarship benefited them.

The College Radio Foundation will provide the scholarship funds directly to the colleges/universities. We will also obtain an official copy of the student’s transcript directly from the school to verify that the student is in good academic standing and eligible for the scholarship award.

  1. Hello! I’m the current promotions director at KZSC, UC Santa Cruz’ college radio station and I’m interested in applying for some scholarships to help fund my position. I’m heavily involved with this position and work closely with the local venues in our area, as well as working directly on funding proposals, fundraising drives and more. I’m very passionate about radio and want to continue to do this work and am looking for scholarships to help make that a little easier on me. It looks like you guys aren’t accepting scholarships yet but please let me know if there’s a way to be notified when and if you do. Thank you!
    George
