May 5, 2025 — The Organizing Committee of World College Radio Day is proud to announce the appointment of its new leadership team for the upcoming 2025 and 2026 celebrations. Gabriel Menchero from Frecuencia CEM at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico has been named President, while Ray Burke from UCC 98.3FM at University College Cork in Ireland will serve as Vice President.
Both Menchero and Burke bring a deep passion for college radio, international collaboration, and the power of student voices in shaping a more inclusive, empathetic world. Their leadership comes at a crucial moment, as global tensions, conflicts, and social injustices continue to highlight the urgent need for spaces where all voices can be heard with dignity and respect.
In light of current international events, World College Radio Day reaffirms its unwavering commitment to humanity with the following statement:
Where others reject, we empower.
Where others are silent, we speak.
Where others silence you, we listen.
With respect, because humanity is NOT negotiable.
Now more than ever, when divisions grow deeper and the voices of many are marginalized, college radio stands as a vital platform where dialogue, understanding, and solidarity prevail. In this regard, the Organizing Committee of World College Radio Day calls upon all stations, students, and listeners around the globe to remember that every story matters, every voice has value, and every person deserves to be treated with respect.
The theme for this year is a powerful call to action: “Tune in to the people“.
In a world too often dominated by noise and division, we choose to listen – truly listen – to the voices of students, artists, activists, and dreamers who inspire hope and change. College radio remains a beacon for authentic expression, and this year, more than ever, we are committed to amplifying the voices that the world needs to hear.
Under the leadership of Gabriel Menchero and Ray Burke, World College Radio Day will continue to honor its mission through the unique power of college radio.
Together, we tune in to the people – and in doing so, we help shape a future that respects and celebrates humanity in us all.
We invite all college radio stations around the world to join us in celebrating World College Radio Day on Friday, October 3, 2025.
