Vinylthon 2017 College Radio Programming Guide

Note: this is a partial list being updated regularly as we receive information from the 72 participating stations about their specific plans for the Vinylthon.

WMSC at Montclair State University (NJ) launch at 11pm on Friday 4/21 with a Music Director and music fans round-table. Kick off is at 12 am with Mike Stringham until 4am; 4-6am Austin Resnick; 6-8am Filipe Costa; 8-10am Anabella Poland with the best of classic rock and hard rock; 10am-12am Music Team Heather Rivera & Austin Resnick will be live from Princenton Prex Record Store. The store has been written about in many magazines including Rolling Stones.  12-2pm Mike Mitsch; 2-4pm Ian Ranzer; 4 to 7pm Nick Franciosa; 7-10pm Daniel Conors; 10-midnight Anthony Roldan. We have WMSC dedicated liners from Dave Mustaine, Mac Miller, Saint Asonia, Tommy Dreamer, Cousin Brucie, Wayne Cabot, Tom Kaminski, Testament, Lamb of God, Mac Sabbath, Despite, A Last Enemy,  Mindshift, Jose Mangin and many more. We have interviews with a music historian at Cali School of Music,  an interview with the owner of Prex, and a DJ who still plays from vinyl + Don McLean. WMSC will be a nominee for the 2017 Golden Slipmat Award.

WTSR 91.3FM at The College of New Jersey (NJ) is proud to be participating in Vinylthon once again! This year, on our show The Static Prevails, we will be honoring two albums that turn 10 years old this year, Aberlin’s Cities and Paramore’s Riot!, by playing them in full from front to back on the show. To celebrate Vinylthon, we will be spinning the two albums on vinyl! We will also be playing and discussing other big songs, movies, and more throughout the show.

WDWN at Cayuga Community College (NY) will be mixing a multi palette of musical genres from 12 noon to 6pm while having a great time in the process!

WIXQ at Millersville University of Pennsylvania (PA) are doing a “Count Down to Record Store Day & Vinylthon” from April 16th-April 22nd. DJ’s have signed up to feature records on all or some of their weekly show. We will promote Vinylthon at our fundraiser concert for a local music charity on Friday April 21st. Starting at 12:00 am we will begin 24 hours of records for the entire day of April 22nd!

KTXT 88.1 FM The Raider at Texas Tech University (TX) will be at Ralph’s Records here in Lubbock, TX from 12-5 pm, giving away Alamo Drafthouse tickets and vinyl record giveaways courtesy of Ralph’s!

WSHL at Stonehill College (MA) are having an alumni takeover of the station.  Alumni live on air from 8 AM to 9 PM with throwback music and vinyl show!

91.9 KSDB Manhattan at Kansas State University (KS) are planning 24 hours of vinyl, starting after our live band in studio this Friday.  At the top of every hour, we’ll have a special selection of “music through the ages,” consisting of an hourly evolution of music from the oldest songs to modern day.  The rest of each hour will be whatever each DJ wants.  We’ll have metal vinyl, showtunes, oldies and current alternative hits.  KSDB is partnering with Sisters of Sound in Manhattan, Kansas who will supply much of the vinyl for this event.  During the day, we’ll have live remotes from the record store in Aggieville.  Tune in for giveaways, requests and lots of fun! KSDB will be a nominee for the 2017 Golden Slipmat Award.

91.1 FM KLSU at Louisiana State University (LA) have turned a full day of programming into an ALL-VINYL format with some of our listeners’ favorite shows as well as special one-day-only programs you won’t be able to hear in our regular schedule line-up! From reggae to soundtracks to 80s alt, expect to also hear shows that specialize on an artist’s career, record labels’ cult reissue series and experimental rock from the 70s. Tune in to KLSU this Saturday from 9 am to 1 am (CST) for a special day of college radio. We’re dusting off our turntables and going back in time for a day of amazing programming! KACV FM90 at Amarillo College (TX) and their specialty show What The Folk? will be completely vinyl-all tracks from live albums(2 hours).  Our R&B show Body & Soul will feature feature vinyl as well throughout the program (8 hours).

WITR 89.7 at Rochester Institute of Technology (NY) will have 24-hours of straight vinyl spinnin’ by multiple DJs. WITR will be a nominee for the 2017 Golden Slipmat Award.


WVMW-FM 91.7 at Marywood University (PA) will be celebrating Vinylthon by playing music from vinyl live between 7am and 3pm and 8pm-10pm ET. VMFM Station Manager Kyle kicks off the day from 7am-9am. From 9am-Noon it’s a special edition of our weekly show “Vintage Vinyl with Mike Evans” and from Noon-3pm it’s “Alternative and More with Mark and Cables”. Throughout the morning, we will be broadcsating interviews from local record shop owners talking about their Record Store Day plans. Finally, at 8pm, Kyle returns with another hour of music from vinyl, then at 9pm he will have another edition of “The Album” where we will be featuring the Arctic Monkeys’ 2007 release “Favourite Worst Nightmare” from vinyl in commemoration of the 10 year anniversary of the album release.

WVCW Radio at Virginia Commonwealth University (VA) will be aiming for the Golden Slipmat award by playing music only from vinyl all day on the 22nd. In the afternoon (times still tbd), we’ll be inviting faculty and administrators from the Division of Student Affairs on air to play some of their favorite tunes and records. WCVW will be a nominee for the 2017 Golden Slipmat Award.

101.7 FM WDSR at DeSales University (PA) will have our Metal Specialist Adam Desseyn playing Vinyl at 3pm. We also hope to have vinyl playing at other times through out the day.

KMSC  at Minnesota State University Moorhead (MN) “we will from noon till 3 be spinning records from both the station’s collection and my own. I’ll also be on hand for our two shows taking place that day if they need help working the turntable should they choose to participate!”

OCCR at Owens Community College (OH) have a show called The Vinyl Hour, which will rebroadcast throughout the day. We will either broadcast live from a local record store and play their vinyl or broadcast live 1-4 using only vinyl in studio with the host of our Vinyl Hour host.

UTA Radio at University of Texas at Arlington (TX) will have a day of vinyl discovery! Our station manager recently bought a huge collection of discs from a yard sale and is itching to try them out!

WVTC at Vermont Technical College (VT) are once again going to go for a full 24 hour Vinyl Marathon in our station. We will have music from many different decades and genres! WVTC will be a nominee for the 2017 Golden Slipmat Award.

92.7 WGFR – The Revolution at SUNY Adirondack (NY) will spin vinyl from 7AM to Midnight. Many of the WGFR DJ’s will be in the studio as well as a few alumni.

Brave New Radio (WPSC) at William Paterson University (NJ) will being going for it: “we have decided that we are going to play 24 hours of vinyl only – no guts, no glory!”  WPSC will be a nominee for the 2017 Golden Slipmat Award.

WHWS LP FM at Hobart and William Smith Colleges (NY) are going the full 24 hours – all Vinyl from midnight to midnight! WHWS LP FM will be a nominee for the 2017 Golden Slipmat Award.

WLFR at Stockton University (NJ) will be playing vinyl throughout the day!

WCSB at Cleveland State University (OH) will be participating in the 24 hour vinyl challenge on Saturday. WCSB will be a nominee for the 2017 Golden Slipmat Award.

Radio Universidad Veracruzana 90.5 FM
at Universidad Veracruzana (Mexico) is proud being part of this Vinylthon. We are preparing 4 hours hosted by 4 local selectors to create an eclectic and consist playlist in our auditorium, people can visit us and being part of this Radio show as audience. From Jazz to Hip Hop, from Son Jarocho to Japan Folk, Radio Universidad Veracruzana still believe in vinyl and turntables, we know this opportunity is very unique and we hope be a part of this celebration every year!

KLBC at Long Beach City College (CA) will be going the full 24 hours of vinyl glory! KLBC will be a nominee for the 2017 Golden Slipmat Award.
