Reissue Tuesday gave us Son Volt’s 2.0 reissue. The album that is being reissued is The Search, and this an a reissue that you will want to search for. The album was released in 2007 was a 14 track album, the deluxe reissue is a 22 song double vinyl (also reissued on CD and digital). The tracks mirror a special edition vinyl called “On Chant and Strum.” Just in time for Record Store Day / Vinylthon, Son Volt is also offering a limited edition companion vinyl called the Ballymeana ep. The 10-inch features unreleased tracks from 2017’s Notes of Blue, as well as an alternate take from American Central Dust (2009). Son Volt’s cross of the alt-Country / No Depression / y’allternative music will catch your attention right away.

On Wednesday we got new music from Sama Dams! Sama Dams is a band that I have been following for quite some time n0w. They are from Portland and seem to be constantly striving to create music that they are proud of. Sama Dams experiments with sounds in a way that will draw you in with your first listen. For their song Say It, they start with vocals and an electric uke and synth player Lisa taking on lead vocal duties on “Pockets.” Their drummer does an amazing job of keeping the vibe without being overpowering. If you have not heard any of their music yet, you’re doing something wrong.
