New Music Faster : Your Weekly Review

By Hannah Greve

We started off this week with a reissue! Reachin’ (A New Refutation of Time and Space) by Digable Planets finally got a reissue 25 years after the original release. What’s even better is that the album is going to be pressed on vinyl. The record was released during the time of political turmoil which fueled the inspiration of hip-hop at that time. It was a mixture of jazz, alternative, and literature-infused lyrics.

Next we had the exciting news of a new album release! Micheal Rault just released a new song that is going to be on his upcoming album! This new album will be released this spring. It’s A New Day Tonight will be available on May 18th. The most recent song released, “I’ll Be There,” has taken the 70’s vibe of his music into the modern style of todays indie rock.

We are heading north to Toronto, Canada with TANTRiX. This duo was formed in May of 2016. Eddie Silver and Matt Mio have described their music as “a unique and authentic sound mixing influences of R&B, rock, funk, reggae, and hip-hop then fusing them with an original pop style that has a nostalgic, easy-going West Coast vibe.” “We Become One” is their newest song. This is music that’s confident, and enormously likeable.
