The MIT List of Radio Stations on the Internet
This is the most comprehensive list of radio stations on the Internet that we could find.
Numerous search functions are available, including the ability to search by state and city. Also,
black text on grey backgrounds do not make for friendly reading, and the name itself is ambiguous: is it a list of radio stations available on the Internet, or a list of stations that have a webpage ("on the Internet"), or a list of stations broadcasting over the Internet?
Relax Online: College Radio Database
Perhaps the most youthful and striking website on this list, Relax Online uses a more eclectic design to display
college radio listings. Its listings provide relevant information such as call letters, frequency, city, school,
links, and phone numbers. Though listings are not quite as inclusive as other sites, the directory offers an
innovative drop-down menu of states, which proves extremely useful for printing
out specific state listings rather than printing out an entire national list.
Independent/College Radio Stations
Designed for people trying to make a living in the independent music world, this site includes station format, phone, and link information. Well organized by state and then city in alphabetical order, the site is easy to use and provides an accurate, if not comprehensive, list of college and independent radio stations.
Underground Music Monthly
This site provides a clear, easy to search listing of independent and college radio stations. It is organized by states and cities. College stations are clearly identified, though not separated from other stations. Phone numbers are provided as well as links to stations with websites.
The Metal Index
Click on a U.S. state and watch information pop up on your screen. The Metal Index
not only gives you call letters and frequencies, but also includes
address, phone, and fax information. What this site fails to give you is the affiliated school
of some stations and links to stations with websites. Watch out for the red text on black format; it cries sinister not informative.
Cosmos
Radio.com
This site contains all known sites on the Internet that publish information about broadcast radio stations, including stations that broadcast through the Internet. Links to more than 6,000 radio stations from around the world are listed here. Organized by state, the site includes station call letters, city, and affiliated college. Site also contains a link to stations that broadcast their audio signal on the Internet, although these often do not work.
Radio Stations Broadcasting Over the Net
Calling all college sports fans, this site features all college and university radio stations in the country that broadcast over the net. Sorted alphabetically by state, the site includes the city, format, affiliated university, and links. The table format and picture links to live football, basketball, hockey, baseball, and soccer make the site fun and user friendly. All the links work, and provide the ability to quickly get information on the stations' web pages. The site does not provide a comprehensive list of all college radio stations since it includes only radio stations that broadcast over the Internet.
The Slack's College Radio Stations List - AM and FM
Boasting a substantial list of college radio stations, this website appears to be "commercially busy". Advertisements and banners clutter the website and impede usability. The site includes call letters, frequency, location, and school, Perhaps the most outstanding feature of this site is the listing of only college radio stations that have their own websites. Users can access college radio stations in specific states by choosing the appropriate link in the listing of states.
Mondo Radio Links
Do not let the cult-like appearance of this site deter you from its information.
Mondo Radio Links lead to many world wide radio stations. The catch is that you must sift through
all of the radio links (sorted by country) in order to find specific formats and genres. Put in a little effort and this site will be worth your while.
