in August; Arbitron Webcast Ratings; International Channel Continues Audience

NEW YORK, Oct 25, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Arbitron, a Ceridian Corporation
company (NYSE:CEN), announced today that NetRadio ( http://www.netradio.com/) (NASDAQ:NETR), an
Internet-only webcaster streamed by Akamai and iBeam Broadcasting, occupied
seven of the top ten spots in the August Webcast Ratings.
NetRadio's "80s Hits" ranked number one with 311,600 Aggregate Tuning Hours
(ATH) - the sum total of all hours that listeners tune to a given channel during
a month.
The hot adult contemporary international Internet webcaster, http://www.virginradio.co.uk/, streamed
by Akamai and Ginger Online, was ranked number two with 264,800 ATH. Claiming
the number seven spot was streaming audio site, KNAC.com Pure Rock ( http://www.knac.com/), a heavy metal lifestyle
community channel, streamed by Akamai and Enigma Digital, with 254,500 ATH. The
top ranked U.S. radio station streaming audio online was WABC-AM's webcast
channel, http://www.wabcradio.com/, ranked number
nine was with 194,100 ATH.
Stations and channels affiliated with BroadcastAmerica were notable newcomers
http://www.wokq.com/
(WOKQ-FM) with 103,800 ATH; http://www.1on1sports.com/ (One-on-One
Sports) an Internet-only sports channel with 60,800 ATH; and http://www.wblm.com/
(WBLM-FM) with 41,100 ATH.
Sixteen of the top 75 webcast channels in the Arbitron August Webcast Ratings
were streamed by Activate (formerly Activate.net).

channels in the Webcast Ratings," said Joan FitzGerald, director of marketing
and research & development, Arbitron Internet Information Services. "The
increase was particularly large for NetRadio because listenership has grown.
Plus, we were able to include all of NetRadio's streaming media data for the
first time in the August Webcast Ratings These results reflect the findings from
our latest Internet study, which showed that listening online has tripled in the
last two years and that people who consume streaming media are a desirable
consumer segment."
Arbitron Webcast Ratings currently measures over 900 stations and channels,
representing over 10 million Aggregate Tuning Hours in the month of August.
Revised Webcast Ratings for July
Arbitron found that it had received incomplete data from some of its data
providers for the month of July and has placed revised July Webcast Ratings on
its Web site at http://www.arbitron.com/. The missing data
had the impact of increasing the Aggregate Tuning Hours in the July revised
ratings for eleven channels: Global Media's Kool Hits channel, WOKQ-FM, ABC
Radio Network's Tom Joyner program, eYada.com, Christian Pirate Radio, WBLS-FM,
Global Media's The Edge, One-on-One Sports, KBLX-FM Global Media's Innercity
Soul channel, and WBLM-FM. The July revision also indicates the correct channels
and stations streamed by Activate.net that were inadvertently noted by Arbitron
as being streamed by another company.
"Since we make our ratings available to the public and since many companies
use our figures to gauge the growth of Webcasting, we thought that it is
important to publish the revised figures for July," said FitzGerald.
"We have taken steps to insure that we receive complete data from now on."
Background and Methodology
Arbitron Webcast Ratings debuted in October 1999 as the world's first
streaming media ratings service. Arbitron Webcast Ratings provides "ratings" for
streamed media because webcasters need objective, third-party audience
measurement to demonstrate the value of their audiences to agencies and
advertisers. Arbitron Webcast Ratings is a server-side measurement, which
captures all tuning to participating streamed media channels by compiling a near
census of Internet tuning sessions. This ratings report compiled Aggregate
Tuning Hours during the month of August for listeners to 900 of the Internet
audio channels being streamed by or affiliated with ABC Radio, ABC Radio
Networks, Accelernet, Activate, Akamai, BetaLounge, BroadcastAmerica, the
Broadcastweb Network, Control Room Technologies, Enigma Digital, Evoke,
eYada.com, Ginger Online, Global Media, GUS Networks, House of Blues, iBEAM
Broadcasting, Interland, NetRadio, NRJ Energy Radio Sweden, One-on-One Sports,
RealBroadcast Networks, Rivals.com, Stellar Networks, and ZD Inc.
